FileCream 0.10.0: File Sharing Built Into The Filesystem

I'm incredibly excited to announce the release of FileCream 0.10.0 which marks a very important milestone in the development of FileCream. Even though this release took longer than the previous ones, I strongly believe it was well worth the wait!

In 0.10.0, I have added the ability to share files across accounts. Sharing has been a big part of cloud storage systems for a long time, but what makes this addition exciting in FileCream is that it is built directly into the filesystem. Rather than being an afterthought or bolt-on feature, sharing is part of the foundation of FileCream, so once you share a file with another user (or they share it with you), the recipient can interact with it just like a regular file -- because it is a regular file! This also extends to apps and APIs: apps can interact with shared files or use the sharing API to build novel features without having to reinvent the wheel.

To share items in FileCream, all you have to do is right-click on the file/folder you'd like to share and then choose Give Access To....

In the Give Access To... window that appears enter the FileCream username or email address of the person you would like to share this file/folder with and then click Give Access.

That's it! The file is now shared with the user you specified. You can also manage who you have shared your file with through the item's Properties.

As always, I would love to hear your feedback. You can contact me directly at
